I am going to try to write a step by step credit repair guide,  this guide will be based on my experience and personal beliefs.   This guide may not work for everyone and should not be construed as legal advice.

With that out of the way, repairing credit is can be a complex and daunting task.  Each case is different and each creditor is different, as such what works for one person, might not work for another.  With that in mind, there is no fool proof credit repair guide; in my opinion individuals are best served by learning the ins and outs of credit restoration and finding a approach that might work for them.   There are many people on the internet that offer credit repair services for a fee, there are some that are legitimate and others that simply send the same generic letter on behalf of all their customers and in occasions end up lowering your Fico score instead of increasing it.

As a consumer, prior to repairing your credit file; you must understand what Fico is and why the fico score should matter to you.  More importantly you need to learn how to protect and maintain a good score.   Over the next several weeks I will attempt to write articles addressing different aspects of credit and credit restoration.
